Roulette is one of the oldest and most played casino games. Unlike blackjack, no decision can reduce the mathematical house edge — it's fixed by the game structure. Strategy therefore focuses on risk and variance management.
European vs American roulette: a crucial choice
European roulette has 37 slots (0 to 36). American roulette has 38 (0, 00 and 1 to 36). This extra American zero nearly doubles the house edge. Always play European roulette — that's rule number one.

Main betting systems
Martingale
Double after each loss. Recovers all losses on the first win. Problem: a streak of 8-10 losses (statistically frequent) can exceed table limits or exhaust the bankroll.
Fibonacci
Progress through the Fibonacci sequence after losses, step back two positions after wins. Less aggressive than martingale, but still vulnerable to long negative streaks.
D'Alembert
Increase bet by one unit after a loss, decrease by one after a win. Gentle progression, lower variance than martingale.
Flat betting (recommended)
Bet the same amount every spin. No progression, predictable results, minimum variance. The only approach that can't spiral on a bad streak.
The reality of betting systems
No system changes the 2.7% house edge. Systems only modify the distribution of wins and losses over time — not their expected total. Over 1000 spins at €1, you will statistically lose €27 regardless of strategy.
